Sketches of Hank

Saturday, April 14th 2007 - 5:05 pm by Aaron

It’s been quite a while since I’ve done any art work, and I have had the urge to do some lately. I couldn’t think of anything interesting to do, and I didn’t want to do a large project that would take a long time, so I ended up doing a couple of sketches of Hank—one in pencil and one in conte. They’re not what I would call finished pieces.

Incidentally, we took Hank to the vet the other day—partly because it had been a while, and partly because his droppings were red (which can be a sign of something wrong). The vet said that he was one of the best looking birds he had seen and that he was very well-behaved. By well-behaved, he meant that he didn’t really fight when he was handling him. Hank is used to being handled a lot. He wasn’t tramatized like he was last time—when his wings were clipped and they stuck a swab down his throat to take a culture.

Aaron, those are very nice sketches of Hank. You have not lost any talent, in fact the time off may have been a good refocusing time. Underneath Hank is a bit obscure, but other than that, those are about the best pieces that I have seen you do. You work well loose.

The conte one is especially nice!

Thanks, Matt.

Yes it is obscure. He was sitting on my head, and I didn’t think my hair added to the picture. I didn’t know what to put there, so I kind of left it fuzzy.
